Stormwater & Wetlands

GREEN TECKNOLOGY AND NUTRIENT CYCLING

Capture phosphorus where it occurs

Phosphorus losses from agricultural land, drainage, stormwater and other diffuse water flows contribute to eutrophication in lakes, rivers and coastal waters. Drainage water, ditches and stormwater can transport dissolved phosphorus into sensitive ecosystems – even where measures are already being taken to reduce nutrient losses.

DiaPure offers a robust and circular solution for capturing phosphorus from these water flows. The phosphorus is bound in a regenerable filter material and can subsequently be recovered instead of being lost to the environment.

A solution for stormwater, drainage and wetlands

DiaPure’s regenerable filters can be integrated into drainage systems, ditches, stormwater treatment solutions or wetland systems. The filter material efficiently binds dissolved phosphorus under varying flow rates and loads – from low flows to heavy rainfall.

Its high hydraulic capacity makes DiaPure suitable for water flows with changing loads, where conventional solutions can be difficult to size or maintain.

How it works in practice

  • Water is directed through the DiaPure filter
  • Phosphorus is chemically bound to the filter material
  • Treated water continues to the receiving environment
  • When the filter material is saturated, it is regenerated
  • Phosphorus is recovered and the filter material can be reused

The result is long-term phosphorus removal using a regenerable material rather than disposable filters and repeated material replacement.

Benefits for stormwater and wetland projects

  • Reduced phosphorus losses to lakes, rivers and coastal waters
  • Robust treatment under varying flow rates and loads
  • Regenerable filter material reducing the need for new material and waste
  • Potential for phosphorus recovery and future reuse as a nutrient
  • Flexible integration into drainage, ditches, stormwater systems and wetlands
  • Scalable from individual measures to larger landscape-scale projects

Part of a circular nutrient system

With DiaPure, phosphorus is not simply something to be removed – it becomes a resource that can be recovered.

Phosphorus that would otherwise contribute to eutrophication can be captured, recovered and potentially returned to agriculture.

A step from nutrient loss to resource recovery.
